Just went to the Local Staples to put a new Nexus 7 in my hand. Wow. So nice and light. It puts last year's mode to shame. Has me wondering about the upcoming Nexus 10; if it comes in a similar design it'll be killer.

Hi, I dont understand why is PC version lock on 29 FPS. I hope it's a joke...
On 29 FPS is this game on PC with mouse control unplayable. Will in future be turned off FPS lock? or increases FPS lock at least 60 FPS?

Pull the trigger Wing you'll love it...SOOOO much better than before.

Melee is a piece of cake, sound kickass, resolution kickass, fps good (still slows in chaos but doesn't freeze like before), can track nades better almost to the point of avoiding them, guns seems to fire faster, movement is much smoother...do i need to continue Emoticon In reply to wingnut

So I got my Shield, been playing SG DZ at full detail and it's smoother than my tegra 3 on low detail!

Gonna need reading glasses 2x or 3x just to play the game because the screen is so small compared to my 10" tablet. Not really did ok but it's just a bit weird for now.

Also I miss the keyboard for in game chat, and hangout doesn't seem to want to connect to a video call (maybe because it doesn't have a camera or something) but even my tablet (tegra 3) doesn't let me do hangout directly. Tried via the browser and no joy either.

Played for 5 hours non stop and used half of the battery although I had it plugged at times, but its awesome being able to take it to the back porch to have a smoke (other than I have to switch wifi because the front one doesn't quite cover the back.

As for benchmarks, here is the result for the standard (720p) which is the native resolution:

ran the extreme as well and got awesome results too:

I need a mini hdmi adaptor, the one I had for my tablet is a micro hdmi, maybe on the big screen it does better without eye strain, and a bluetooth keyboard for typing Emoticon

So far i'm very happy with it.

Not sure why the current average benchmark is so low in comparison, all the reports match my numbers, I guess some people ran it while it was updating or doing stuff in the background.

But for now it's the top device for 3DMark Ice Storm!

Cool Miguel. I was wondering how you liked it. Been reading mostly positive reviews. Lots of people complaining about lack of controller supported games, but the market is full of em. I check out that tegrazone app and they have a huge list of games. Of course, SGDZ has kept nearly all my game time attention, so I guess I don't notice.

So the HDMI connection is mini? Not sure I ever saw that.

I think I'm going to wait for the next Nexus 10.... Maybe even buy a used first gen if I find a good deal. I really miss the screen real estate I had on the Asus Transformer -- that tablet was just really just getting worse and wore for everything else I used it for. Was really good for deadzone, though.

Also, I got my controller working pretty well. Turned the sensitivity to pretty much 0 and could aim reliably. If MadFinger would add a quick turn left or right so you could jog 90 degrees with a right or left flick of the left analog stick (Conduit has this and it's pretty great). I'd be good. What I tried to do is quickly swipe the screen when I needed to turn fast, but that's not really the best solution...

Have you tried it yet? PC doesn't work well for me:

1) the old carpal tunnel issues. The less time I spend on a PC -- especially a mouse -- the better.
2) Way easier for me to pretend I'm reading while I'm really fragging my online pals. My wife knows all the time though because she says my face tenses up all the time.I try to say I'm reading a really really good piece, but she knows. Emoticon But seriously, I really love that you can play a game like this casually. In reply to spawn

My N7 is seriously not cutting it anymore. My touch controls are in and out... Couldn't throw nades when i needed to, i totally lost control of my avatar ..etc. And I don't really have money to burn on new hardware... But if I did, I really don't know what to get. Feel like waiting for the new nexus 10, but don't want to wait too long. I got an itch that needs scratching!

Ugh. First world problems...

The new N7 is twice as good and ain't bad for $229 soon to be $199.

Otherwise your prolly gonna have to wait till Xmas for Santa to bring you either the N10 or Nvidia tab.

I'm not above going iOS for the game (also because for other reasons... I'd like to have something for simple music recording/multitracking)... Was looking at iPad minis but the 512mb RAM scares me. And I think I really want a larger screen. I did much better on my tf700 than on the N7... I used to actually have chance of shooting someone during a GZR sync. LOL.

I guess I'll suffer a bit more through substandard N7 play... Just gotta keep my play to 8 to 10 games at a time, tops.

Friend of mine says the new N7 gets really flaky when power gets low. Goes into a reboot loop. Read a lot of others having that problem, too.

To be honest i've not been using it much since i went to the PC version.

I have heard of the GPS issue but thats about it.

As i wasn't able to root it i used to play with the controller plugged in and played several times right down to ~10% mark of the battery with no issue. In reply to knees

I've got my eye on the 32GB version of the new N7, but... should I pull the trigger given the state of the PC hackers? I'm only considering it for DZ Emoticon
