Saw it this weekend with the Mrs. It was good. kept me entertained for the 2 hours, but it's completely different than the book. I'd recommend it, but i dont think it's a movie i could watch twice

sccooke wrote:Ever since I was old enough to watch R rated films, I have been told I should see The Shining. My wife loves scary movies. We just watched it. I think when I asked her what she thought of it she hit the nail on the head. She said, "well, I didn't suck" I was crackin up. IMO, it was a waste of two hours and twenty minutes. Very slow moving, slightly creepy, and ain't-climactic. I you have never seen it, I would say don't bother.
You should have seen it when you were eight like I was. My sister let me watch it... I didn't sleep for three days. And for the next six months when I did I had my BB gun in the bed with me....

I loved the latest star trek... great film. World war Z was good, the zombies were brilliant. Enjoyed Oblivion too.
Also seen World's End. It was funny but nowhere near Sean of the dead or Hot Fuzz quality imo.
I love the original Evil Dead, and Evil Dead 2.. wont bother watching the remake... Some things need to be left well alone.. lol
We're the Millers was quite funny and Jennifer Aniston looked smoking hot in the striptease seen 0.0 and I'm not usually a fan of hers... it's the nose that puts me off lol...
Life of Pi was a cinematic marvel... I've got the latest Superman to watch, so if anyone has seen it please give opinions
Waiting to get Machete 2.. First one was cool, blatant over the top stuff and plenty of gore.. Second one was slated but I always like to form my own opinion..
I am lookimg forward to seeing the second Thor movie, also Red2 as i really enjoyed the first of each of those.. The new Frankenstein looks good too. I always keep up to date with IMDB and watch the trailers. .
also.. anyone seen Movie 43? 0.o
Wow, talk about strange lol
I loved it. Especially Hugh Jackman's ahem.. additional Adam's apples
Recommend you check that one out too..
Just watched the trailer for the remake of oldboy, looks good.. I really hope it is. Love the original..
Watched Elysium the other night. . Not bad but the south african mercenary needs a lot more acting lessons. . Spoilt it for me..
2 guns is pretty good.. whalberg and Washington are a pretty good team.. good fun.
...yeah.. watched it a couple of months ago... probably the better ones out of the riddick series.. besides pitch black.. ^_^
anyone seen FROZEN yet?
...that film was suprisingly good! the feelz on that flick was nice.. and it gives good message! recommended watch to fellow geezers who has daughter/s ^_~ get pro points taking them to see it! just grit and bare a couple of slushy musicals.. imho the film was tolerable regarding that.. more so than most of the other disney stuff.. ^_^
Also seen:
Star Trek 2 - Wrath of sherlock kahn
Very nice... benedict cumberbach makes a better khan than mr montalban! >_<
Man of Steel
Ok watch, i was comic book enthusiast back in the day, but the juxtaposed editing made hell out of the flow of the film... and so most of my friends/family got bored midway though it..
Machete 2
Also great watch... OOT, but i expected that... old mel does good baddie.. ^_^
Elysium
It was ok.... watchable.. but nothing really stood out imho..
Gravity
Suprisingly good... definite one to get on 3d.. in fact, recommended to watch this one on 3d 1st! >_< lol!
Due to watch Life of Pi.. .got it in 3D 1080p! ^_^ hehe
Curious regarding oldboy remake... and new robocop... i really hope they dont cock it up.. =_=
I like the Riddick series... watching for it on Redbox...
Saw Frozen with my daughter... I agree it was pretty good for a princess movie... I joke around with her when she sings "Let it go" ... I'll let one rip.
Also saw Life of Pi the other night... kept hearing it was good and it was, just not what I expected.
I have Red 2 and Smurfs 2 from Netflix in the queue.
Frozen - watched with my daughter as well.....twice. I highly enjoyed it and she did too.
Wolf of Wall Street - Going form Frozen to Wolf of Wall Street is one extreme to another. This movie was fantastic. Degenerate rich stock brokers, as seen in Scorsese's eyes, lead by DiCaprio. Lots of Drugs and women, fantastic acting and an intriguing storyline all compacted into 3 rather short hours.
American Hustle - 2nd only to Wolf of Wall Street, as one of my favorite movies I've seen this past year. Terrific cast, makes this already fantastic story even better. Amy Adams was easily the stand out performer, and Jennifer Lawrence was pretty damn good too.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Wow. I love this current day and age of cinematography and CGI, etc... This movie was really well done. While I loved the first one, I loved this one just as much. Must watch on a big screen!!
Don Jon - I saw this on my torrent site and saw that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson starred in it and I just had to watch it. It's about a guy who is addicted to watching/masturbating to porn. Meets a girl and tries to kick his addiction. Really weird movie, but I like those kinds of movies sometimes.
Machete Kills - Robert Rodriguez at his finest. Lots of over the top blood and gore with fantastic cameos from the likes of Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson....good stuff!!
GJ, I actually enjoyed Man of Steel considerably more the second time I watched it. The first time I was feeling like you were... seemed too 'all over the place', but once i went back and watched it again after it was out on dvd, I appreciated it a lot more. It still has 2 pretty major flaws IMO.... 1) Zod never says the words "kneel before zod". Come on, would that really be hard to mix in there? 2) Superman kills someone.
Wunda I kind of have to disagree on The Desolation of Smaug, but maybe its just me. It just seemed to drag on and on and on, with lots of action and fancy pants fight scenes, but without alot of substance. By time I actually started to enjoy it, it was over. Honestly I considered walking out about halfway through, I was bored out of my mind
My coworker burned Riddick to an mp4... I uploaded it to my dropbox if anyone's interested.
I'm running out of space, so I'll delete it in a few days.
Best line, "Love those toenails, by the way".
Hobbit dragged a bit for me too, but I liked it even though they changed the story slightly. I was hella pissed after the first one because I didn't know it was a trilogy.
