I thought you were an apple guy? Asked on dz forum, too. I was a max guy, but iOS is tough. They lock that sucker up tight.

i am involved with apple because my company develops apps for iPads.

I am a *nix guy. Hate Microsoft, despise Apple. But work with both, they are nice job security.

I play on an iPad, it is company provided.

used various distributions for many years, then found Ubuntu.
I've been Ubuntu user since 6.06
I left Ubuntu shortly after the move to Unity interface. Early versions were HELL, so I tried mint (lightweight Ubuntu)... until they had a release that was FUBAR, and I went back to Ubuntu.

Very happy with Ubuntu for many years (with the 1 exception)
