Got a lot of geeks here. Wondering what people think of the latest Apple announcements.

I'm a big Android/Linux fan but like a few things:

1) Free OS upgrades. It's about damn time. You pay $1000 plus for that hardware, the least you can get is free software upgrades.
2) Garageband developments look pretty sweet

Don't like:
1) Hardware is really nice, but shit. Way expensive still.
2) original ipad only reduced by $30?!

They're definitely doing a good job of refining what they do well. Still too damn much money.

iPad mini 2 is nice with the Retina display. $400 for 16GB is kind of pricey when the N7 v2 32GB is $269.99 (OH SNAP... I just saw it's on sale here for $229.99 until tomorrow!).

Now I have a $150 mall gift card which I could use toward the mini 2 (but not the N7 since the store that carries it only has it online) which brings it to $250 which isn't much difference. With the N7 v2, recording games isn't going to happen. Anyone able to record games on an iPad directly on the device? In reply to wingnut

I installed this on my N10. It requires root. It works, however it causes so much lag, that makes deadzone almost unplayable on my N10. Not sure how the experience would be on the new N7. In reply to bangbang

What? You leaving the Apple Orchard? I think you can log out of your account in ITunes and there should be a place to reset it in settings. Look under General all the way down. There should be a reset tab..

Meatshield. Nuff said.

That's awesome, Shad. That tab seems like a steal, too. Did you see that MAdCats micro console? Tegra 4 for $250? (comes with a controller). That would be interesting, though I still think this game is too tough to play without touch for aim.

Though I have to admit, those new Steam controllers look like they might solve that.

In other news, I'm getting bored of my laptop. It's ony a year old, but between the bad keyboard and the constant fan running, it's not a pleasnt working experience.

Been looking at other System76 Linux lappies, but they're all too expensive. I don't think I want to even go near Win 8. MacBook Airs look good, but also really expensive.

My ideal would be a Dell xps 13 with Linux Mint. They sell developer lappies but they're pricier than MAcBook Airs, and the Airs are better hardware, I think (love that battery life, too).

Meh. Nothing speaks to me.

$700 is the note 3... was thinking a budget note with stylus and gpu for 400ish. Good performance for the money like you $200 tab
